State Potato Crop Value Totals $195 Million

Minnesota potato production in 2019 totaled 17.8 million hundredweight, down 5% from 2018, according to the latest USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service -- Potatoes 2019 Summary.
The state's potato growers planted 46,000 acres, up 2,000 acres from 2018. Harvested acres in 2019 were reported at 43,000, down 500 acres from the previous year.
Average yield per acre, at 415 hundredweight, was down 3% from the previous year.
Price per hundredweight increased to $10.90 from the previous year's $9.64 per hundredweight. Total value of production of the state's potato crop was up from $180 million in 2018 to $195 million in 2019.
