Racing Commission, Tourism Council Appointments Made

Governor Tim Walz and Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan announced the following appointments to the Minnesota Racing Commission. In addition to the appointments below, current member James Laine has been designated as the chair of the Commission.

Alan Gingold of Wayzata has been reappointed a commissioner to serve until June 30, 2025. Lisa Goodman of Minneapolis was also reappointed to serve until June 30, 2025. Julie Idelkope of Golden Valley was appointed to replace Ralph Strangis and will serve until June 30.

The Minnesota Racing Commission operates to ensure the integrity of horse racing and card playing, oversee the proper distribution of funds back into the industry, and provide for the safety and welfare of the human and equine participants.

Meanwhile, Jean Bowman of Fergus Falls wanted named to the Explore Minnesota Tourism Council at the Central Tourism region representative, Bowman replaces Shawn Hansen and will serve until 2023.

The Explore Minnesota Tourism Council promotes activities that support, maintain, and expand the state's domestic and international travel market.
