Minneapolis Schools Seeking 2019-20 Partner Farms
Minnesota Ag Connection - 01/15/2019

Is your farm interested in selling produce to Minneapolis Public Schools? Do you know a farm that might be interested?

Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) is now seeking bid proposals from farms (and farm groups) to provide sustainably-grown produce to our school district's Farm to School Program for the 2019-20 school year.

Please find our 2019-2020 Farm to School Request for Proposal (RFP) online at: procurement.mpls.k12.mn.us/open_bids_and_proposals

Interested farms, farm cooperatives, food hubs, and aggregators are invited to complete the RFP to share information about their farm(s) and bid on specific produce items. Farm to School partner farms will be selected based on price, produce quality, environmental sustainability, supplier diversity, and grower values.

MPS' Farm to School Program, which started in 2013, partners with small- to mid- size, regional growers to purchase sustainably grown produce for school meals. For the current 18-19 school year, MPS is buying nearly 40 different varieties of vegetables and fruits from 13 farm and farm cooperatives in the area. For more information about MPS' Farm to School program, please visit its website: cws.mpls.k12.mn.us/f2s_program

MPS looks forward to growing its Farm to School Program next year.
