Organic Control of Spotted Wing Drosophila
Minnesota Ag Connection - 06/19/2018

Spotted wing drosophila, the highly invasive fruit pest, has been spotted in the University of Minnesota's 2018 monitoring traps as of last week.

In order for growers to prepare and begin managing it, Extension has just released two new podcast episodes on organic management methods for spotted wing drosophila, on its new UMN Fruit and Veg Podcast Series called "What's Killing My Kale."

In these two episodes, hosts interviewed Mary Meyer, Assistant Professor of Horticulture, and Jim Riddle, long-time organic fruit grower and owner of Blue Fruit Farm, about their tactics for managing SWD in organic fruit.

Coming soon will be a third episode with an interview from Extension Entomologist Bill Hutchison.
