Join MFU for Coffee, Ice Cream, Patries, Conversations at Fair

As the 2017 Minnesota State Fair begins, consider stopping by the Farmers Union Coffee Shop at 1635 Dan Patch Ave. It offers a full service coffee shop, with pastries, cookies and ice cream bars, plus indoor and outdoor seating where you can enjoy your treats and have a conversation with friends.

Minnesota Farmers Union (MFU) is introducing three new foods this year with an emphasis on local ingredients: a Sweet Corn Blueberry Eclair, which is made with Kernza flour; a Chili Maple Bacon Donut; and Maple Cream Nitro Cold Press Coffee. The pastries are made by Birchwood Cafe, which is located in Minneapolis. All of its coffee beans are roasted by St. Paul's J&S Bean Factory. It also has five ice cream bar flavors, as well as ice cream sandwiches, produced by Grand Ole Creamery in St. Paul.

- Aug. 25, 2:30 p.m.: 24th Annual Celebrity Milking Contest, sponsored by MFU, Moo Stage at the Moo Booth

- Aug. 26, 5:45 p.m.: MFU at the 4-H Purple Ribbon Livestock Auction, AgStar Arena

- Aug. 27, 7:45 a.m.: 33rd Annual Milk Run 5K, sponsored by MFU, on West Dan Patch Avenue

- Aug. 27, 10:30 a.m.: 4-H Dairy Showcase Awards, sponsored by MFU

- Aug. 27, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.: 13th Annual Minnesota Cooks Program from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m., in Dan Patch Park. You can check out the schedule at www.minnesotacooks.org, and you can pick up a free Minnesota Cooks calendar at the MFU Coffee Shop any time after the event.

- MFU sponsors the signs given to 4-H and FFA Grand Champions and the back number cards worn by 4-H and FFA show participants.

The Farmers Union Coffee Shop is just inside the Snelling Avenue Gate. It's hard to miss!
