Extension Goat-Sheep Birthing and Animal Health Webinar Jan. 28

The University of Minnesota Extension will host a webinar on Jan. 28 starting at 6:30 p.m. Central on preparing your sheep and goats for the lambing and kidding season, particularly around the time of parturition (birth). Farmers, 4-H and FFA members, and ag business professionals who work with farmers, and those interested in goats or sheep are invited to attend.

Kyle Rozeboom, Livestock Specialist, U of M Department of Animal Science, will discuss:

- Birthing process

- Dystocia

- How to effectively assist a lamb/goat kid with a healthy start in life

Dr. Whitney Knauer, DVM, PhD, Assistant Professors, U of M College of Veterinary Medicine, will discuss:

- Ewe/doe and lamb/kid health

- Body condition scoring

- Vaccinations

- Prevention/treatment of pregnancy toxemia and mastitis
