Craig Awarded National Farmers Union Golden Triangle Award

U.S. Rep. Angie Craig received the National Farmers Union Golden Triangle Award for her work to support Minnesota's family farmers. The award, which was presented by the Minnesota Farmers Union, is given to Members of Congress who have dedicated their time in Congress to supporting family farmers.

Rep. Craig is a member of the House Agriculture Committee, where she has made amplifying the voices of Greater Minnesota a top priority. In addition to bringing Minnesota farmers to testify before Congress, Craig has also pushed for smart trade policies that prioritize Minnesota farmers, introduced a bipartisan bill to give farmers more flexibility in foraging cover crops on prevent plant ground, and launched a Farmer Advisory Council to bring rural voices to Washington.

"The hard work of Minnesota farmers puts food on the table and fuel in the tank," said Craig. "I am grateful to the folks at Minnesota Farmers Union, not only for the honor of receiving this award, but also for being such strong partners in my work to open up export markets and protect rural quality of life."

"These are tough times in farm country, and there's no question that Rep. Angie Craig has farmers' backs," said Minnesota Farmers Union President Gary Wertish. "We're proud to present her with NFU's Golden Triangle award to recognize her hard work on the House Agriculture Committee and her continued partnership with MFU and farmers in the second congressional district."

In her first eight months in Congress, Craig has made it a priority to push for policies that support our ag economy and bring more rural voices to the table. She has:

- Participated in the 2019 Minnesota FarmFest Listening Session with federal lawmakers, including Chairman Collin Peterson and Secretary Sonny Perdue. Craig pushed the Administration to implement smart, deliberate trade policies and end the trade war with China.

- Hosted a listening session in White Rock on the state of the farm economy, hosted Minnesota farmers and ranchers at the State of the Union and at a Congressional hearing, and visited farms in Cannon Falls and Farmington.

- Introduced the bipartisan FEEDD Act, which would give farmers and ranchers additional emergency harvest flexibility on prevent plant ground and help alleviate feed concerns. As a result of this bill, the Administration took steps to move the Nov. 1st harvest date for cover crops on prevent plant ground - giving farmers and ranchers much needed flexibility during this wet planting season.

- Secured additional funding for rural broadband and the Rural Energy For America Program and the ReConnect Rural Broadband Program to improve the quality of life in Greater Minnesota.

- Advocated for expanded markets for biofuels as a cosponsor of the Biodiesel Tax Credit Extension Act of 2019 and by presenting testimony to House Ways and Means.
