Ida, Nicholas K-O PMA Fresh Summit in New Orleans
Minnesota Ag Connection - 09/24/2021

The Produce Marketing Association (PMA) announced on Friday that it will be unable to put on Fresh Summit 2021 scheduled for Oct. 28-30 in New Orleans due to the impacts of both Hurricane Ida and Tropical Storm Nicholas.

Cathy Burns, PMA CEO, details the difficult decision in a video message at https://www.pma.com/events/freshsummit.

Northern Plains Potato Growers Association, East Grand Forks, Minn., has promoted Red River Valley Potatoes at this show for nearly 50 years and was scheduled to attend this year.

This will mark the second straight year that the PMA Fresh Summit has been canceled; last year due to Covid. It is also the second time a hurricane has claimed the show in New Orleans. The devastation created by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 prompted PMA to move the 2007 Fresh Summit which was scheduled for New Orleans, to Houston.

There are no plans to hold the Fresh Summit virtually.
