Beltrami County Storm Response in Full Swing

Beltrami County Storm Response in Full Swing

By Scout Nelson

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz has declared a peacetime emergency to help communities in Beltrami County recover from recent severe storms. These storms brought hurricane-force winds that caused major damage to homes, roads, and power systems across the region.

The declaration allows state agencies to continue supporting local governments and emergency responders. It also ensures that additional state resources are available to restore essential services and help residents recover. The Department of Public Safety’s Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management is taking the lead in coordinating on-site assistance for affected communities.

“Minnesota will deploy every available resource to aid communities throughout Beltrami County as they recover from storms that brought hurricane-force winds, devastated infrastructure, and left thousands without power,” said Governor Walz. “I’m grateful for the tireless work and rapid response from emergency management officials, first responders, and community members. Together we will rebuild and heal.”

State agencies will continue working closely with local leaders to repair damaged infrastructure and help residents return to normal life. Thousands of people lost electricity during the storm, and many are still recovering from the effects.

Governor Walz visited the Bemidji area last week to view the damage firsthand and speak with emergency officials. His visit highlighted the importance of quick response and strong community support in the face of natural disasters.

This emergency order is an important step in making sure affected areas receive the help they need. It also shows Minnesota’s commitment to rebuilding and supporting its communities during difficult times.

The state’s response efforts will continue as clean-up and recovery progress. With teamwork and support, Beltrami County and nearby regions are expected to recover and emerge stronger.
