A grand champion Christmas tree is making its way to the Minnesota State Capitol Building for the 2025 holiday season. The fifteen foot Balsam fir comes from a Minnesota tree farm that earned the top honor at the 2025 Minnesota State Fair. The tree will take center stage in the Capitol rotunda and will help celebrate a long-standing tradition of choosing locally grown trees during the holidays.
The delivery is scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 25 at 9:30 a.m., when the tree is brought into the rotunda. Media are invited to attend to capture photos and videos of the arrival, along with opportunities to speak with Minnesota Department of Agriculture and Minnesota Grown staff. The tree is expected to be decorated on Monday, Dec. 1 as preparations continue for seasonal events at the Capitol.
The featured Balsam fir is a popular North American tree species known for its classic fragrance, rich green color, and full shape. Its soft needles and traditional appearance make it a favorite during the winter season.
The featured tree farm has been operating for decades and has been a Minnesota Grown member for more than thirty-five years. Each year, thousands of visitors travel to the farm to select Christmas trees and enjoy seasonal activities.
Minnesota Grown supports more than sixty Christmas tree farms across the state, helping connect families with locally sourced products. Information on these farms can be found at MinnesotaGrown.com, offering resources for choosing trees and supporting local agriculture.
Event details are provided to assist with media planning. The delivery will take place at the Minnesota Capitol Building located at 75 Rev Dr Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard in St. Paul. The gathering is open to media members who wish to document the event and learn more about Minnesota’s holiday traditions.
The annual Capitol tree display continues to highlight the value of locally grown products, strengthen community pride, and celebrate the winter season in a meaningful and memorable way.
