The Explorers in Agriculture webinar series will give young participants an opportunity to learn about agriculture around the world through a virtual educational experience organized by the University of Minnesota Extension and Minnesota 4-H.
Running from November 10 through December 8, the program will introduce participants to agricultural systems in Turkey, Ghana, and Mexico. Students will explore how geography, climate, culture, and local traditions influence farming practices, food production, and rural communities in different parts of the world.
Each session will focus on a different country, providing insights into crops, farming methods, traditional foods, and the people involved in agriculture. The program is designed to help youth develop a broader understanding of global food systems and the role agriculture plays across cultures.
Participants will hear from guest speakers and agricultural professionals who will share knowledge and experiences from around the world. The series will also include hands-on activities and opportunities to connect with Minnesota 4-H Agriculture Ambassadors.
The program aims to expand participants' understanding of international agriculture while encouraging curiosity about global food production. Organizers hope the experience will help youth recognize the connections between farming, culture, and everyday life.
The webinar series is primarily intended for students in grades 6–8, although older youth are welcome to participate. Because the sessions are offered online, participants can join from home.
Registration is available through the 4-H Online platform until November 5. Participants needing assistance with registration can contact their local Extension educator.
The University of Minnesota Extension also offers accommodation support for individuals with disabilities and may provide interpreter services when requested in advance.
