The University of Minnesota Extension 4-H Youth Development program is preparing for the 2026 4-H Shooting Sports and Wildlife Invitational (State Shoot), scheduled for September 11-13,2026 at the Alexandria Shooting Park. The annual event will bring together youth participants from across Minnesota to showcase their shooting sports skills and wildlife knowledge.
Participants will compete in a variety of disciplines, including archery, muzzleloader, shotgun, air rifle, .22 rifle, and air pistol. The competitions are designed to promote safety, responsibility, sportsmanship, and skill development within Minnesota's 4-H Shooting Sports program.
In addition to shooting events, youth will participate in educational activities such as Skillathon, wildlife calling, and conservation projects. These experiences help participants strengthen their understanding of wildlife management, natural resources, and environmental stewardship.
The invitational provides a statewide opportunity for young people to build confidence, connect with fellow competitors, and demonstrate the skills they have developed throughout the year. Families, volunteers, and local communities are expected to support participants as they compete and represent their counties.
Organizers encourage attendees and supporters to watch for future event updates, schedules, and competition results. Communities across Minnesota are also recognizing the dedication and achievements of youth who have qualified to participate in the State Shoot.
