In a bid to celebrate and further enhance the longstanding trade and investment relationship between Minnesota and Japan, the Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) is leading a business development mission from September 8 through September 15, 2023.
This mission aims to not only celebrate the rich history of trade but also identify new avenues for growth within the agriculture industry.
A group of Minnesota lawmakers and agricultural organizations will join the MDA on a mission to engage with Japanese businesses and meet with USDA Agricultural Trade Office and Foreign Ag Service personnel.
Governor Tim Walz, attending the 2023 Midwest U.S.-Japan Conference in Japan, will host a reception in Tokyo and a luncheon in Osaka, aiming to foster networking opportunities and strengthen ties between the two regions.
Japan holds a significant position as Minnesota's fourth-largest export market, accounting for approximately 8% of Minnesota's food and agricultural exports in 2021, equivalent to $752 million.
Detailed insights and images will be provided upon its successful completion.
