Minnesota Potato Production Down 2 Percent



Minnesota potato production in 2021 totaled 17.6 million cwt, down 2 percent from 2020, according to the USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service -- Potatoes 2021 Summary.

The state's potato growers planted 42,000 acres, unchanged from 2020. Harvested acres in 2021 were reported at 41,300, up 100 acres from the previous year.

Average yield per acre, at 425 cwt, was down 2 percent from the previous year.

Price per cwt, at $10.70, was 20 cents below 2020. Total value of production of the state's potato crop was $188 million in 2021, down 4 percent from 2020.
