Self-Guided Garden Tour Experience

Self-Guided Garden Tour Experience

By Scout Nelson

The Hennepin County Master Gardener Garden Tour is a special self-guided event that allows visitors to explore ten beautiful private gardens located in Bloomington, Edina, Minneapolis, and Richfield, Minnesota. Each garden belongs to a Hennepin County Master Gardener volunteer and showcases creative landscaping ideas suitable for different spaces and conditions.

This educational tour provides an excellent opportunity for gardening enthusiasts, homeowners, students, and nature lovers to discover practical gardening techniques supported by university research. Visitors can learn about modern trends in landscaping, plant selection, garden design, and sustainable gardening methods.

One of the highlights of the event is the chance to interact with knowledgeable on-site volunteers. These experts are available throughout the tour to answer questions and provide guidance on specific gardening challenges. Whether visitors are interested in improving soil health, selecting suitable plants, or creating attractive outdoor spaces, they can receive valuable advice directly from experienced gardeners.

The event will take place on Saturday, July 11, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. CDT. The tour will be held at various residences across Bloomington, Edina, Minneapolis, and Richfield. Since it is a self-guided experience, participants can visit the gardens at their own pace.

Ticket prices are affordable, making the event accessible to many gardening enthusiasts. Single tickets cost $15 in advance and $20 on the day of the tour. Discounts are also available for groups of ten or more people. Children under the age of 12 can attend free when accompanied by a paying adult.

Registration is required to receive the official tour map and location details. Interested participants can register through the following link: https://learning.umn.edu/portal/events/reg/participantTypeSelection.do?method=load&entityId=61977163

The tour will take place in the rain or shine. Organizers are committed to ensuring equal participation for everyone. Accommodation requests for individuals with disabilities should be submitted at least two weeks before the event. The program will be conducted in English, and interpreter services may be available with advance notice.

This garden tour is an excellent opportunity to gain practical knowledge, discover innovative landscaping ideas, and enjoy some of the finest home gardens in Hennepin County.
