Strengthening Skills for Pumpkin Success

Strengthening Skills for Pumpkin Success

By Scout Nelson

Pumpkin growers across the region will have the chance to come together for an online meetup designed to reflect on the 2025 growing season and begin planning for 2026. This virtual session will be held on Monday, December 8, 2025, from 12 to 1:30 p.m.

Central time. The event offers a valuable space for learning, sharing experiences, and preparing for the year ahead.

The session brings together breeders, Extension vegetable educators, and other experienced growers to provide helpful insights about pumpkin production. Participants will discuss major trends seen during the 2025 season, including weather patterns, plant health concerns, pest activity, soil conditions, and crop performance.

The online conversation will help growers understand what worked well and what challenges should be addressed for the next growing cycle.

The University of Minnesota Extension is offering this meetup at no cost, making it accessible to growers of all sizes. Registration is required, and those who sign up will receive a Zoom link before the event.

The online format makes it convenient for participants to join from any location, reducing travel time and helping more people take part in the discussion.

The Extension team is committed to ensuring equal access to everyone. Individuals with disabilities may request accommodation by contacting the event coordinator at least two weeks before the session. Interpreter services may also be available with advance notice, helping more growers benefit from the information shared.

The meetup will be delivered in English and will focus on practical advice that school students, new growers, and experienced producers can all understand easily. Participants will hear updates from specialists who study plant science and vegetable production, and they will have the chance to ask questions and share their own observations from the 2025 season.

For more information about the event, interested individuals may contact the Extension educator by email or phone Marissa Schuh, Extension educator, mschuh@umn.edu or 612-460-7462. This meetup offers a valuable opportunity for growers to learn, collaborate, and prepare their pumpkin crops for a productive 2026 season.
