Initiatives Promoting Clean Energy Education Sought
Minnesota Ag Connection - 03/11/2019

The Minnesota Department of Commerce State Energy Office (SEO) has developed the Clean Energy Community Education Grant Program to promote clean energy education at the community level. This small grants program is intended to increase participation in educational initiatives that promote the use of energy efficiency and renewable energy, address climate issues, and empower, inspire, and motivate a new generation of energy leaders--of all ages and backgrounds--in communities around Minnesota.

This program will award up to 12 grants of up to $2,500 each to plan and implement energy education initiatives to be showcased within the Energy Exhibit at the Eco Experience of the 2019 Minnesota State Fair (Aug. 22-Sept. 2). Grant awards are designed to be used for expenses to plan, develop, and create clean energy community educational messages, displays, and materials (in coordination with Commerce) and to provide one day of staffing at the exhibit during the State Fair.

The grants are available to qualified applicants who are representatives of a Minnesota community. For the purposes of this grant, a "community" can consist of any group formed to implement clean energy goals. Units of government (city, county, tribal nation, school district, military unit, or other jurisdiction) must be the primary applicant and fiscal agent, but coalitions that include nonprofits, service organizations, and businesses will strengthen the application.

A Request for Proposals (RFP) and required forms for the Clean Energy Community Education Grant Program (COMM_SEO03_20190215) opportunity are available for download on the Commerce RFP webpage. Potential responders may also request a hard copy of the RFP by mail from this office. Requests for hard copies must be received by Commerce no later than 12:00 p.m. (noon) Central Time (CT) on March 27.

Proposals submitted for this RFP must be received no later than April 1 at 11:59 p.m. CT. Late proposals will not be considered. Instructions for submitting proposals are detailed in the RFP.
