Second Lowest Minnesota May Hay Stocks Recorded

All hay stored on Minnesota farms as of May 1, 2022, was estimated at 330,000 tons, down 18 percent from May 1, 2021, according to the latest USDA, National Agricultural Statistics Service - Crop Production report.

Disappearance from December 1, 2021, through May 1, 2022, totaled 1.13 million tons, compared with 1.84 million tons for the same period in 2021.

This is the second lowest May hay stocks recorded for Minnesota, exceeding only the 280,000 tons stored on farms May 1, 2019.

All hay stored on United States farms as of May 1, 2022, totaled 16.8 million tons, down 7 percent from May 1, 2021. Disappearance from December 1, 2021 - May 1, 2022, totaled 62.2 million tons, down 6 percent from the same period a year earlier.
