Big springs farm corn maze draws families for fall fun

Big springs farm corn maze draws families for fall fun

Corn maze, pumpkin patch highlights Big Springs Farm’s fall season.

As temperatures soared to nearly 90 degrees, fewer visitors tackled the corn maze at Big Springs Farm near Lanesboro, Minnesota. However, co-owner Justin Brown expects more people to visit the 10-acre maze as cooler fall weather approaches.

Now in its fourth year, Big Springs Farm offers a variety of agritourism experiences, including the corn maze, pumpkin picking, and family-friendly activities.

Co-owners Pamela and Justin Brown turned to agritourism to diversify their farm’s income, allowing them to remain on the farm despite fluctuating corn prices.

The corn maze, designed with GPS technology, features a trio of Norwegian gnomes and the word “Velkommen,” paying homage to the farm’s Norwegian roots, dating back to 1873. Visitors can choose from two maze sections, one taking 45 minutes and the other only 10 minutes for those short on time.

The farm also offers interactive activities, including a zipline swing, a slide, and a pit of corn, along with chickens and goats for visitors to enjoy. While the corn maze and pumpkin patch are the main attractions, these additional activities enhance the overall experience.

Big Springs Farm’s fall season kicked off on September 14, with over 250 visitors. The farm is open through October 27, with special flashlight corn maze events scheduled for October 18, 19, and 26. Visitors can enjoy the farm from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. in September and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in October.

With fewer corn maze options in the region, Big Springs Farm has become a must-visit destination for fall activities in Southeast Minnesota, providing a memorable experience for families.
