Cooperative Ventures, a partnership between CHS Inc. and GROWMARK, has invested in OpenTug, an AI-powered logistics technology company focused on improving inland and coastal marine transportation. The investment supports the development of technologies that strengthen agricultural supply chains and improve efficiency for farmers, cooperatives and agribusinesses.
As part of the collaboration, CHS plans to implement OpenTug’s BargeOS platform across its transportation network. The system helps streamline logistics operations, including voyage management, planning, reporting and invoice reconciliation through a single digital platform.
OpenTug’s technology uses GPS tracking and automated data integration to provide real-time visibility into barge movements. The platform helps reduce idle time, improve arrival forecasts and minimize transportation delays, supporting more efficient grain movement.
The investment is expected to enhance supply chain visibility and coordination across marine freight networks. Improved transportation efficiency can help cooperatives move products more effectively while reducing operational costs.
GROWMARK also believes the technology can improve the movement of agricultural products through river transportation systems. Greater visibility and operational insights may help cooperatives respond more quickly to disruptions and optimize freight activity.
The investment adds OpenTug to Cooperative Ventures’ growing portfolio of agricultural technology companies focused on improving productivity, sustainability and profitability across the agricultural value chain.
