Farming Webinar Focuses on Crop Issues

Farming Webinar Focuses on Crop Issues

By Scout Nelson

University of Minnesota Extension is continuing its 2026 Strategic Farming Field Notes webinar series with a session focused on cover crop termination timing and management methods. The weekly online program is designed to help crop producers and agricultural professionals manage in-season farming challenges through live discussions with Extension specialists.

The growing season often brings many concerns for producers, including weed pressure, insect pests, plant diseases, soil fertility issues, resistance management, and weather-related crop stress. The Field Notes program was created to provide timely support through short, interactive webinars that address current crop conditions and management questions in real time.

The upcoming webinar will feature Extension specialists discussing important cover crop termination strategies and field management practices. The session will be moderated by Liz Stahl, Extension crops educator, and will focus on helping producers better understand timing, methods, and seasonal considerations connected to cover crop management.

The Wednesday webinar series gives participants an opportunity to hear directly from specialists while asking questions during the discussion. Topics throughout the season may include agronomic concerns, insect and disease outbreaks, weed management, soil fertility, and weather impacts affecting crop production across the region.

Organizers noted that participants who are unable to attend the live session can still access the information afterward. Recorded webinars will be posted immediately following the event on podcast streaming services for convenient listening. Additional details about the podcast series can be found at Strategic Farming Podcast.

The webinar is open to crop producers, consultants, ag professionals, Extension personnel, agency staff, and others interested in crop management topics. Thanks to support from the Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council and the Minnesota Corn Research and Promotion Council, there is no cost to attend the sessions.

Registration is required for participation. Once registered, participants can attend any webinar in the Strategic Farming Field Notes series without registering again. Registration information is available at Field Notes Webinar Registration.

The webinar will take place online on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 8 to 8:30 a.m. CDT. University organizers also noted that accommodation requests and interpreter services may be available with advance notice for participants needing additional support.
