The Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation has welcomed the recent passage of year-round E15 fuel sales legislation by the US House of Representatives. The organization believes the decision will support agriculture, strengthen rural economies, and provide consumers with more affordable fuel choices across the country.
The legislation is viewed as an important step for ethanol producers and farming communities that depend on strong biofuel markets. Supporters say year-round access to E15 fuel will create greater consistency in the fuel industry and encourage long-term growth in renewable energy production. The measure may also help increase demand for corn used in ethanol production, creating additional opportunities for farmers and rural businesses.
Minnesota Farm Bureau President Dan Glessing shared support for the legislation and emphasized the benefits for both agriculture and consumers.
“The passage of year-round E15 fuel sales legislation by the House is a win for Minnesota farmers and consumers,” said MFBF President Dan Glessing. “A consistent ethanol policy gives famers the confidence to plan ahead and helps keep our rural economies strong while providing consumers with a reliable, homegrown, lower-cost fuel option.”
E15 fuel contains a 15% ethanol blend and has become an increasingly important part of the renewable fuel industry in the United States. Advocates say expanded access to E15 can help lower fuel costs, support domestic energy production, and reduce dependence on foreign energy sources. Rural communities also benefit from ethanol production facilities that provide jobs and contribute to local economic activity.
The Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation also thanked lawmakers for supporting bipartisan efforts connected to agriculture and energy development.
