The Minnesota Farm Bureau Federation expressed disappointment after the Senate Agriculture Committee failed to advance the Agriculture Act of 2026. The setback delays action on several agricultural priorities and creates continued uncertainty for farmers awaiting an updated farm bill.
Minnesota Farm Bureau President Dan Glessing acknowledged the leadership of Sens. Amy Klobuchar and John Boozman but said the committee's decision was frustrating for producers. He noted that the legislation included key provisions supported by Farm Bureau members, including year-round E-15 sales.
The organization stressed that a new farm bill is important for providing farmers with greater certainty amid economic and market challenges. Farm Bureau members have also advocated for policies that support rural communities and strengthen agricultural markets.
With the bill remaining in committee, agricultural groups are urging lawmakers to reach a bipartisan agreement and move the legislation forward. Farm organizations continue to emphasize the need for a farm bill that addresses the priorities of farmers, ranchers and rural America.
