The Weed Science Field Day takes place on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Rosemount Research and Outreach Center in Rosemount, Minnesota. The event welcomes growers, crop consultants, agronomists, researchers, and others interested in learning about the latest weed management practices and crop production research.
Supported by generous event sponsors, the field day is free to attend, and participants will receive lunch following the program. Although there is no registration fee, organizers highly recommend pre-registration by July 10 to help with planning.
The event provides visitors with an opportunity to tour several research demonstration plots and learn directly from agricultural experts. The presentations focus on current weed management challenges affecting corn, soybeans, and dry edible bean production. Participants can observe research trials and discuss practical solutions that may improve weed control and crop performance.
One of the main topics is herbicide-resistant weed management. Specialists explain current challenges caused by resistant weeds and discuss management practices that help reduce their spread while protecting crop yields.
The program also highlights new herbicides and technology, including the use of precision sprayers. These technologies help producers apply herbicides more accurately, improve application efficiency, and reduce unnecessary product use.
Another important topic is the use of cover crops. Experts explain how cover crops support weed suppression, improve soil health, and contribute to long-term crop management strategies.
The Rosemount Research and Outreach Center is located off 160th Street (County Road 46) between Minnesota Highways 3 and 52. Visitors traveling from Minnesota Highway 3 should turn east onto 170th Street West, continue 1.8 miles, turn left onto Arkansas Avenue, and park near the equipment shed. The field day site is located at GPS coordinates 44.703702, -93.101057.
