Soil Solutions Field Day 2023 - Boosting Farm Productivity

Soil Solutions Field Day 2023 - Boosting Farm Productivity

Farmers and those closely working with them have an exciting opportunity ahead. On Thursday, September 7, 2023, the West Central Research and Outreach Center in Morris, MN will be the hub for the Soil Solutions Field Day.

Starting from 9 a.m. and wrapping up by 2 p.m. Central time, the event promises a blend of learning and interaction. Expertise will come not just from seasoned farmers, but also from knowledgeable industry professionals and dedicated scholars from the University.

Participants can expect to delve into:

  • Optimal tillage practices tailored to various soil types.
  • Leveraging cover crops for better water management.
  • Techniques like 'planting green' in drier years.
  • The relationship between soil erosion and its effects on crop yield.

For those interested in the full details, including the roster of speakers, the Improving farm productivity through healthy soil webpage is the place to visit.

Organizers suggest pre-registration. To ensure participants receive a free lunch and event handouts. And the best part is there’s no cost to attend. Thanks go to the farm families of Minnesota and their contributions through corn and soybean checkoff investments.

For accessibility or special needs requests, the go-to person is Jodi DeJong-Hughes, Extension educator. She's reachable at dejon003@umn.edu. It's best to get in touch at least two weeks before the event to ensure necessary arrangements.
