Spring Yard Planning Made Easy

By Scout Nelson

A spring landscape design class offers an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in improving their outdoor spaces. Scheduled for Saturday, April 18, 2026, from 9 to 11 a.m. Central Time, the session will be held in person at the Chisago County Senior/Community Center in North Branch, Minnesota.

This class focuses on helping participants create outdoor spaces that are both functional and visually appealing. The session will guide attendees through the basics of landscape design, including how to plan gardens based on maintenance needs, available budget, and environmental conditions. These practical insights can help individuals make better decisions when designing or upgrading their home yards.

Participants will also have the chance to work on their own design during the session. They are encouraged to bring measurements of the area they wish to design or photographs for discussion. This hands-on approach ensures that each participant gains practical knowledge that can be directly applied to their own space.

The class is open to all interested individuals and is designed to be simple and informative, making it suitable even for beginners. The registration fee is $10, payable by checking to UMN Extension. Interested participants must mail their registration fee to the office at 38500 Tanger Drive, Suite 206, North Branch, MN 55056.

For further details or assistance, participants can contact the program coordinator via phone at 651-401-3325 or email at humb0025@umn.edu.

The program also promotes equal access and inclusivity. Accommodation requests for individuals with disabilities should be made at least two weeks before the event to ensure proper arrangements.

Overall, this class provides a valuable learning experience for anyone looking to improve their outdoor space with thoughtful and efficient design practices.
