Since 1979, Otter Tail County has celebrated the agricultural achievements of local families through the Farm Family Recognition Program. As 2025 approaches, the county is again searching for a family that exemplifies dedication to Minnesota’s agricultural industry and their community.
This prestigious award highlights families who have made significant contributions to agriculture and local development.
Eligible nominees are those actively involved in food production within Minnesota, managing diverse agricultural enterprises ranging from traditional farming to sectors like aquaculture, agroforestry, and renewable energy.
The program also seeks to honor those who have introduced innovative farming techniques or made notable short-term advancements in their agricultural practices.
Candidates for the Farm Family Award should meet the following criteria:
- Actively contribute to agricultural production within Minnesota.
- Engage in innovative or progressive agricultural practices.
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to enhancing the agriculture sector.
- Actively participate in community or agricultural organizations.
- Not previously recognized by the Farm Family Program.
This initiative not only acknowledges longstanding contributions to agriculture but also encourages innovative practices among new and established producers. It emphasizes the importance of community involvement and the role of family-led operations in sustaining and advancing the agricultural landscape.
Nominations are open until April 25, 2025. This provides an opportunity for the community to acknowledge families that have significantly impacted the agricultural sector through sustainable practices and community engagement.
As we look forward to recognizing the next deserving recipient, Otter Tail County continues to support and celebrate the hardworking families that form the backbone of our regional agriculture.
