Animal Science Career Paths for Youth

Animal Science Career Paths for Youth

By Scout Nelson

A National Animal Science Career Night is scheduled for Thursday, December 18, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Central time. The event will be held as an online webinar and is open at no cost to participants.

The program is hosted by the National Association of Extension Youth Development Professionals Animal Science Team. It is designed to help young people learn more about careers connected to animal science and related fields. The session will focus on sharing real world experiences and explaining the wide range of career paths available in animal science.

“You're invited to an exciting opportunity to explore careers in animal science!” The event provides an engaging setting where participants can hear directly from professionals working in animal-related industries. The session will include presentations, discussions, and a question-and-answer period.

Two guest speakers will share their career journeys and insights. One speaker represents leadership within the livestock industry, while the other works in animal care and management within a zoological setting. Together, they will highlight different career directions, daily responsibilities, and skills needed to succeed in animal science fields.

The event will also help participants understand how education, training, and experience can support future career goals. Topics may include college programs, internships, hands on learning, and professional development opportunities. By hearing from experienced professionals, attendees can gain a clearer picture of what working in animal science involves.

The program is intended for youth in grades 7 through 13 who are interested in animals, science, or agriculture related careers. It is suitable for students who are just beginning to explore career options as well as those who already have an interest in animal science.

Registration is required and must be completed by December 17, 2025. Registered participants will receive access to information before the event.

The hosting organization is committed to providing equal opportunity for participation. Individuals needing accommodations are encouraged to contact the event coordinator at least two weeks before the event date. The webinar will be delivered in English, and interpreter services may be available with advance notice.
