UMN Hosts Produce Equipment Webinar

UMN Hosts Produce Equipment Webinar

By Scout Nelson

University of Minnesota Extension continues its winter webinar series on fruit and vegetable production with an upcoming session focused on postharvest equipment. The webinar will take place on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 12 to 1:15 p.m. Central time and will be delivered online.

This educational session is part of a weekly winter program that brings together Extension educators, industry professionals, and agricultural experts. The goal of the series is to provide clear and useful information on managing fruit and vegetable crops from early planning stages through harvest and postharvest handling.

The April session will focus on tools that can help improve food safety, cleaning efficiency, and product quality after harvesting. Participants will learn about different types of postharvest cleaning equipment, including brush washers, barrel washers, and wash tanks. These tools play an important role in reducing contamination risks while maintaining the appearance and freshness of produce.

The webinar is designed for aspiring growers as well as small to medium sized operations interested in improving postharvest practices. The information shared will help participants better understand how proper equipment choices can support safe food handling and improve overall efficiency.

The event is free to attend, but registration is required. Participants may choose to attend one or multiple sessions in the winter series. Registered attendees will receive a webinar access link closer to the event date.

University of Minnesota Extension is committed to providing equal access to its programs. Individuals who need accommodation are encouraged to contact the event organizer at least two weeks before the webinar. Requests made after this time will be addressed when possible.

The webinar will be delivered in English. Interpreter services may be available with advance notice.

Additional winter 2026 topics in the fruit and vegetable production webinar series are available on the program’s webpage. This ongoing series continues to support learning, skill development, and informed decision making for those involved in fruit and vegetable production.
