The Minnesota Family Woodlands Conference returns in 2026 with two days of learning, connection and hands-on activities for woodland stewards of all experience levels. The event will be held on March 13–14, 2026, at Saint John’s University in Collegeville, Minnesota. Participants will explore forest management topics, learn from experts, and strengthen their confidence in making decisions that support healthy and resilient woodlands.
The conference begins on Friday, March 13, with a guided field tour focused on real forest management practices. Participants will see how management decisions shape woodland health and long-term sustainability. Because field tour space is limited, early registration is encouraged.
In the evening, attendees may join the Minnesota Forestry Association’s 150th Anniversary banquet dinner, featuring keynote speaker Ethan Tapper. The banquet is open to all, and membership is not required.
On Saturday, March 14, the main conference sessions offer a full day of presentations, exhibits, and networking opportunities. Expert-led panels and concurrent sessions will explore topics such as woodland stewardship best practices, wildlife habitat care, forest health, invasive species prevention, cost-share programs, and ways to work effectively with local service providers. These sessions help participants understand both the ecological and practical sides of caring for family woodlands.
The conference is open to woodland owners and stewards. General admission is $30, with an early bird rate of $20. The Friday field tour and banquet option costs $30. Tribal members may attend for free using a discount code found on the registration page. Cancelations after March 1 will include a $15 service fee.
The University of Minnesota Extension supports equal access to all programs. Individuals needing accommodations may contact the event coordinator at least two weeks before the event. Interpreter services may also be available with advanced requests.
