Bean Day is Back for Minnesota Growers Jan. 21



The Northarvest Bean Growers Association's annual Bean Day is back in person. Join in Jan. 21 in Fargo, N.D., at the Holiday Inn.

Attend a day early for Thursday's pre-Bean Day reception and an opportunity to socialize with exhibitors and fellow growers from 5 until 7 p.m. Cash bar and an hors d'oeuvre buffet will be available. There is no fee to attend.

Highlights from Friday's program include:

9:30 a.m. -- The Breeding Update: New Varieties Performance and Slow Darkening News, Dr. Juan Osorno, Dry Bean Breeding & Genetics, Department of Plant Sciences, North Dakota State University

10 a.m. -- Panel Discussion: Cover Crops, Conservation Tillage and Soil Managment with Mike Ostlie, Greg Endres, Jeff Strock, Abbey Wick, and Facilitator Brad Brummmond

10:35 a.m. The International Bean Market -- Rebecca Bratter, executive director, U.S. Dry Bean Council, Portland, Ore.

11 a.m. Succession Planning Session -- Andy Zenk, AgCountry FCS

11:30 a.m. Specialty Conversations, 2021 Dry Bean Insurance Options, Amanda Beck, USDA RMA

The featured speakers at lunch will be Northarvest Scholarship Award Winners Andrew Johnson and Justus Jon Moser, and will also include an awards presentation by Mike Hergert and Bill Thoreson to Tim and Faye Courneya

Northarvest Bean elections are also being held for District 2 (ND), District 5 (ND) and District 8 (MN) director positions. The elections are being conducted through mail ballot. After committee review, the election results will be announced at the 47th Annual Bean Day.
