The University of Minnesota Extension will host a High Tunnel Field Day on August 7, 2026, at 10th Street Farm in Afton, Minnesota. The event is part of the Minnesota High Tunnel Field Day Series and is designed to provide practical, hands-on learning for growers interested in sustainable vegetable production.
Participants will tour a 2-acre no-till vegetable farm that produces crops year-round using high tunnels. The program will showcase techniques that support soil health and help extend the growing season, including cover crops, movable high tunnels, and the Paperpot transplanting system.
Organized by the University of Minnesota Extension fruit and vegetable team and the Grossman Lab, the field day will focus on real-world management practices. Farmers and gardeners will gain practical insights they can apply to improve productivity and sustainability on their own operations.
The event is open to both gardeners and farmers interested in high tunnel production. Registered attendees will receive the farm address approximately one week before the event.
The registration fee is $10, which helps cover food and presenter travel costs. A sliding-scale option is available for participants who need financial assistance.
Advance registration is required. The program will be presented in English, and accommodation or interpreter services may be available upon request with advance notice.
