Low Cost Packsheds Webinar for Small Farms

Low Cost Packsheds Webinar for Small Farms

By Scout Nelson

The University of Minnesota Extension is offering a winter webinar series focused on fruit and vegetable production. These sessions are designed to help participants learn key practices for managing crops effectively, from planning and irrigation to pest control.

One of the upcoming sessions will focus on low-cost and temporary packsheds for small to mid-size farms. Packsheds are important structures used for cleaning, sorting, and storing harvested produce. This session will provide practical guidance on how farmers can build affordable and efficient packsheds to improve their operations.

The webinar series is open to aspiring farmers as well as those already managing small and medium-sized farms. It aims to provide useful knowledge that can improve productivity and reduce post-harvest losses. By learning better handling and storage techniques, participants can maintain the quality of fruits and vegetables and increase market value.

The session will take place on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:15 p.m. Central Time. It will be conducted online as part of a webinar series, making it accessible to participants from different locations.

Registration is free, but participants must sign up in advance. Once registered, they will receive a webinar link closer to the event date. Participants can also choose to attend other sessions in the series based on their interests.

The program is delivered in English, and interpreter services may be arranged if requested in advance. The organizers are committed to providing equal access to all participants. Those requiring special accommodations are encouraged to contact the organizers at least two weeks before the session.

This webinar is a valuable opportunity for farmers to learn practical, low-cost solutions that can improve their farm operations. By adopting efficient packshed systems, small farms can enhance product quality, reduce waste, and increase overall efficiency.
