The St. Louis County 4-H Livestock Project Club offers young people an exciting opportunity to explore agriculture and livestock education through hands-on learning sessions. Meetings are held monthly at Cherry School, located at 3943 Tamminen Rd., Iron Junction, MN 55751, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. Central time.
4-H clubs provide an excellent way for youth to connect, build leadership skills, and explore agricultural careers. The St. Louis County Livestock Club welcomes all members, even those who do not own animals, to learn about livestock management, animal care, and farm show preparation in a friendly and educational environment.
Meeting dates and topics for the 2026 session include:
- Monday, January 5: Learn all about the 4-H Market Livestock Ribbon Auction.
- Monday, February 2: Learn how to tattoo animals and practice hands-on.
- Monday, March 2: Understand how to read swine ear notches.
- Monday, April 6: Topic to be announced.
- Monday, May 4: Get all the information you need for the St. Louis County Fair.
Each meeting focuses on practical skills to prepare members for livestock exhibitions and agricultural events. The club also emphasizes teamwork, problem-solving, and responsible for animal care.
Interested participants can register online through 4-H Online, selecting “SLC Livestock 4-H Club” as their preferred club. The University of Minnesota Extension encourages inclusive participation and provides accommodations for individuals with disabilities upon advance request.
