The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) has launched the Agricultural Growth, Research, and Innovation (AGRI) Works Grant Program, inviting applications from organizations that support agriculture, horticulture, and rural communities across the state.
This competitive grant aims to fund projects focused on research, marketing, development, and education that enhance Minnesota’s agricultural sector. The MDA expects to award between five and 15 grants, totaling approximately $485,625 through a transparent review process. Each grant will range from $5,000 to $75,000 and requires a 50% funding match from the recipient organization.
“The AGRI Works Grant will help fund innovative projects that advance Minnesota agriculture through a thoughtful and transparent review process,” said MDA Commissioner Thom Petersen. “We’re excited to see how partners across the state use this funding to support farmers and rural communities. I want to thank the state legislature for funding this program and for their continued commitment to investing in our state’s agricultural economy.”
The grant prioritizes projects from legislatively created entities and those that are not eligible for other MDA funding opportunities. Eligible expenses include salaries, benefits, contracted services, equipment, and supplies necessary for completing project objectives.
Applicants must be in good standing with the State of Minnesota and may collaborate with other organizations to strengthen proposals. Complete eligibility details and application materials are available on the AGRI Works Grant webpage.
Applications must be submitted by 4 p.m. CT on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, with funding announcements expected by mid-February 2026.
Funding for this new program comes from the broader AGRI Program, which provides grants to Minnesota’s farmers, agribusinesses, and schools to support advancements in agriculture and renewable energy development throughout the state.
