Youth Leadership in Agriculture Exchange

Youth Leadership in Agriculture Exchange

By Scout Nelson

Youth passionate about agriculture have a chance to enhance their knowledge and leadership skills at the 4-H Ag Ed Leader Exchange, a two-day event hosted by the University of Minnesota Extension.

Scheduled for November 14–15, 2025, this interactive retreat will take place on the Twin Cities campus in St. Paul and aims to help participants explore agriculture’s future while improving their communication and teamwork abilities.

The event welcomes youth from grades 7 through one-year post-high school. Participants will engage in hands-on learning, communication workshops, team-building exercises, and career development sessions. Attendees will also enjoy post-secondary campus tours and visits to various agriculture industry sites.

Organizers say the exchange will provide valuable insight into Minnesota’s agricultural landscape, its evolving challenges, and emerging career opportunities. It’s designed for young people who are not only curious about agriculture but also eager to share their passion effectively.

Registration for the event opens on August 1 and closes on October 10 via 4-H Online. Early registrants before September 15 will pay $50 per participant, while those registering after will pay $75.

University of Minnesota Extension is committed to ensuring accessibility for all participants. “To request accommodations for persons with disabilities, reach out to the event contact two weeks before the start of the event,” the organizers state. Interpreter services may also be available upon advance request.

For more details, contact Anja Johnson at akoester@umn.edu or Kirstin Koch at kochx040@umn.edu. This event is a unique opportunity for youth to step into the world of agriculture and become tomorrow’s ag leaders.
