UMN Announces Last Applicator Training Dates

By Scout Nelson

The University of Minnesota Extension’s Pesticide Safety and Environmental Education (PSEE) program has announced its final set of workshops for commercial and noncommercial pesticide applicator recertification in 2025.

These sessions provide licensed applicators with the opportunity to maintain their certification in required categories before the end of the year.

Participants can choose from several convenient workshop options across Minnesota. The scheduled sessions include:

  • November 6 – The Park Event Center, Waite Park, MN
  • November 14 – UMN Crookston Campus, Crookston, MN
  • November 18 – Syngenta Seedcare Institute, Dennison/Stanton, MN (must be licensed in category H to attend; A/H and A/C/H options available)
  • November 20 – The Bigwood Event Center, Fergus Falls, MN
  • December 2 & 3 – Hilton Minneapolis, CPM Short Course & MCPR Trade Show, Minneapolis, MN

These workshops cover certification in categories A/C, A/H, or A/C/H. Participants can register for an A/C/H session or visit the PSEE website for full details and workshop agendas.

For those licensed under Category J (Rights of Way, Natural Areas, Forestry) who have attended or will attend an A/C workshop, PSEE offers a 90-minute Zoom session on December 1, from 8:00–9:30 AM. Attending this virtual session will fulfill the J category recertification requirement for 2025. Participants who attend this session early may also satisfy their 2026 J category recertification requirement.

For questions about the educational programs, contact Sally Raymond, Extension Educator and Program Manager, at nels9091@umn.edu or 612-626-2237.

Those with licensing questions should reach out to the Minnesota Department of Agriculture’s Pesticide Licensing and Certification Unit at Pesticide.Recertification@state.mn.us or 651-201-6615.

These final workshops provide a convenient opportunity for applicators to complete their recertification requirements while gaining valuable updates on pesticide safety and environmental best practices.
