In 2023, the USDA introduced the Discrimination Financial Assistance Program (DFAP). This initiative, birthed from the Inflation Reduction Act, designated $2.2 billion to aid farmers who felt discriminated against in USDA Farm Loan Programs.
On launching this program, a Brief Guide was shared for the benefit of users. Now, we're excited to announce both the Third Edition of the Farmers’ Guide to USDA Discrimination Financial Assistance Program and a Brief Guide to keep you informed.
So, why the update? The USDA, on September 22, 2023, revised two crucial dates. The application deadline, previously set for October 31, 2023, now stands on January 13, 2024. Farmers looking to retrieve documents from the USDA can do so until November 3, 2023, an extension from the earlier September 29, 2023, deadline.
This refreshed guide not only highlights the new dates but provides clarity on the application process and decision-making criteria.
For a quick glance, there's also a 4-page Brief Guide. All the guides, including the latest updates, are easily accessible on www.flaginc.org/.
