The Wadena County Livestock Project Development Committee (PDC) will hold an important meeting on Wednesday, January 7, 2026, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Central Time. The meeting will take place at the Wadena County Extension Office, located at 221 Harry Rich Drive in Wadena, Minnesota.
The Livestock PDC is a group made up of volunteers, youth members, and Extension staff who work together to improve and support the county’s 4-H livestock program. The committee focuses on helping young people build knowledge, responsibility, and confidence through hands-on livestock learning activities.
This committee plans many educational programs, livestock shows, workshops, and special events throughout the year. These activities cover several livestock projects, including beef, dairy, sheep, swine, goats, and other animal projects. Each program is designed to help students learn animal care, health practices, record keeping, and safe handling skills.
Meetings provide a friendly space where participants can share ideas, discuss upcoming activities, and help make decisions that strengthen the 4-H livestock experience. These discussions ensure that programs remain interesting, safe, and helpful for all youth members.
Families who are new to livestock projects are encouraged to attend. The committee welcomes fresh ideas and new involvement, making it easier for beginners to understand program rules and expectations. At the same time, experienced families can help guide new members by sharing knowledge and positive learning practices.
The Livestock PDC meeting also supports teamwork and leadership. Youth members gain experience in communication, planning, and decision-making, which are valuable life skills that can be used in school and future careers.
By attending the meeting, families and youth can take part in shaping future livestock activities in Wadena County. This involvement helps maintain strong educational programs that promote responsible animal care, learning, and community connection.
