Ag & Food Day Saturday Before Gophers Take on Cornhuskers
Minnesota Ag Connection - 10/09/2019
The 7th Annual Ag and Food Day will put agriculture in the spotlight prior to the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers taking on the Nebraska Cornhuskers this Saturday. The tailgate tradition brings together Minnesota's ag and food sector outside of TCF
Bank Stadium for a celebration of their impact on the state.
On a day honoring all things agriculture, Saturday's matchup appropriately features schools from two of the top four corn-producing states in the nation. Prior to the game's 6:30 p.m. kickoff, Ag & Food Day festivities begin at 3:30 p.m. with tailgate festivities,
delicious samples, giveaways and more at the Gopher Garden on Oak Street outside of 3M Arena at Mariucci.
A number of agribusinesses and commodity organizations representing the state's food and ag sector will be on-hand at the Gopher Garden Saturday. The Minnesota Corn Growers Association (MCGA) will be handing out fun giveaways and providing samples
of delicious popcorn. The University of Minnesota College of Food, Agriculture and Natural Sciences will be handing out sweet corn ice cream, completing the corn-themed, sweet-and-salty pairing.
New this year, fans will receive an Ag & Food Day passport to fill out as they stop at the different organizations. Fans that complete their passport can redeem a prize courtesy of Gopher Athletics and be entered for the chance to win two tickets to win four
tickets to the Gophers versus Wisconsin Badgers game on Nov. 30.
The Minnesota Corn Growers Association is a participating sponsor of Ag & Food Day as part of its efforts to raise awareness of the importance of the state's ag sector with football fans who may not have a connection to the farm.
