The University of Minnesota Extension invites farmers to register for the 2024 Strategic Farming: Let's talk crops series. This live, online program, starting January 10th and running through March 27th, aims to discuss key issues in commodity crop production relevant to Minnesota farmers. These sessions, accessible via Zoom, are scheduled for Wednesdays from 9:00 to 10:00 am.
The series promises an informal setting where each session begins with expert presentations, followed by discussions based on farmer/participant questions. Topics range from grain prices and marketing strategies, corn genomics, maximizing soybean maturity, herbicide efficacy, and managing specific diseases in corn and soybeans, among others.
Esteemed speakers include Frayne Olson, Candice Hirsch, Jeff Coulter, Seth Naeve, Tom Hoverstad, Joe Ikley, Bob Koch, Anna Cates, Dan Kaiser, Jeff Vetsch, Fei Yang, Kiersten Wise, and Dean Malvick.
Registration is free, courtesy of sponsorships from the Minnesota Soybean Research and Promotion Council and the Minnesota Corn Research and Promotion Council. Recordings of the sessions will be available for later viewing. Participants are encouraged to submit questions during registration to shape the webinar discussions.
CEUs are being applied for those attending live sessions. Once registered, participants will receive confirmation and reminder emails with webinar links for easy access. This series is a valuable opportunity for farmers to gain insights and engage in discussions on crop management strategies for 2024.
