Governor Tim Walz proudly announced Eden Prairie Schools as a 2024 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School. "I am proud to announce the recognition of Eden Prairie Schools as one of the 2024 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools," he stated, applauding their initiatives from clean energy to local food sourcing that address climate change.
The school district is celebrated for its comprehensive environmental practices. "Eden Prairie Schools demonstrates what it means to be a good steward of its environment and to build students’ knowledge about sustainable practices," remarked Commissioner Willie Jett, acknowledging the district's influence on the community and environment.
Eden Prairie's commitment to sustainability is evident in its use of 85% solar energy, modern energy-efficient technologies, and a robust environmental health program. The district incorporates sustainability into every student’s experience, ensuring that they are prepared to make impactful environmental decisions.
Among the notable features of Eden Prairie Schools are rooftop solar arrays, LED lighting with occupancy sensors, and a full-service bakery that supports a farm-to-school program, enhancing both environmental and mental health.
