Minnesota is excited to welcome the 2025 National Agriculture in the Classroom Conference from June 23 to 26 at the Hyatt Regency in Minneapolis. The event theme, “Lakes, Land, and Legends,” reflects the state’s rich natural and agricultural heritage.
Organized by the National Agriculture in the Classroom Organization (NAITCO), this annual event supports Pre-K to 12th-grade educators in bringing agriculture into the classroom.
Attendees will explore hands-on workshops, expert-led sessions, and educational field trips that align with national education standards. These programs help students understand agriculture through subjects like science, language arts, and social studies.
Twenty-five teachers from across Minnesota have received full scholarships from the Minnesota Agriculture in the Classroom (MAITC) Foundation to attend. These educators, from places like Kelliher and Worthington, show dedication to helping students learn the importance of agriculture.
The conference begins on June 24 with welcome remarks by Minnesota Department of Agriculture Commissioner Thom Petersen. “Minnesota’s agriculture is as rich and varied as the landscapes that shape it," said Commissioner Petersen.
"From our lakes and forests to our family farms and farmers' markets, there’s a story to be told in every corner of our state. I’m excited to welcome educators from across the country to experience the spirit of Minnesota firsthand.”
MAITC is a partnership between the Minnesota Department of Agriculture and the MAITC Foundation, offering free classroom resources to connect real-life agriculture with everyday subjects.
NAITCO is a nonprofit organization that aims to improve agricultural literacy in schools. Through its national partnerships and events, it has helped thousands of teachers and millions of students understand the importance of agriculture in daily life.
