Expanding horizons - Minnesota FFA's remarkable growth

Expanding horizons - Minnesota FFA's remarkable growth

By Scout Nelson

The Minnesota FFA Foundation, as 2024 nears, remains committed to nurturing young minds in the fields of Agriculture, Food, and Natural Resources (AFNR) through its support of FFA programs.

In recent years, the Minnesota FFA has witnessed substantial growth. Thirty new AFNR/FFA programs have been introduced in the past four years, increasing the total to over 220 schools in Minnesota offering these valuable programs. This upward trend is set to continue, with many schools currently in the process of establishing their own AFNR/FFA programs for the forthcoming academic year.

The Minnesota FFA Foundation plays a crucial role in this expansion. Val Aarsvold, the executive director of the foundation, emphasizes the importance of donations in facilitating the growth of these programs.

Contributions from individuals and businesses help eliminate obstacles for the 40,000-plus students enrolled in AFNR classes, enabling them to explore agricultural careers and develop leadership skills crucial for community development.

Funds received by the Minnesota FFA Foundation are allocated to four primary areas: Youth Leadership, Teacher Preparation, Scholarships, and the Minnesota FFA State Convention.  These areas are important in shaping the future leaders of the agricultural sector.

The foundation welcomes both one-time and ongoing contributions, as well as planned gifts, Donate Now
