The University of Minnesota Extension Strategic Farming program will host its final Field Notes webinar of the summer on August 12, featuring Anthony Hanson and Dean Malvick. The session will focus on grower questions about alternative approaches to managing crop pests and diseases, including hydrogen peroxide and sugar applications.
Extension specialists will review available research and discuss whether these practices are supported by scientific evidence. The goal is to provide growers with research-based information that can help guide crop management decisions.
The webinar will also cover key late-season corn diseases, including tar spot and southern rust. Experts will share current observations and discuss recent disease reports, particularly in southern Minnesota.
Field Notes is part of the University of Minnesota Extension Strategic Farming initiative, which provides timely updates on crop production challenges. Topics regularly include pest management, crop diseases, agronomic issues, and soil fertility.
The program gives producers and agricultural professionals direct access to Extension experts through live online discussions. Participants can ask questions and receive practical recommendations based on current field conditions.
