Henry Lemke, representing the Eden Valley-Watkins FFA chapter, triumphed as the winner of the Farm Bureau FFA Discussion Meet. The event, sponsored by the MFBF Young Farmers and Ranchers Committee and the Minnesota Farm Bureau Foundation, was held during the annual Minnesota State FFA Convention from April 21-23.

For his win, Lemke was awarded a plaque by MFBF Leadership Coordinator Rachael Peterson and received a scholarship. He can use this scholarship to either attend the National FFA Washington D.C. Leadership Conference or further his education.

Dessa Terning from the Dassel-Cokato FFA chapter finished in second place and similarly received a scholarship for education or leadership training.

Rachael Peterson highlighted the significance of the Discussion Meet, noting, "The Discussion Meet is just one way that Farm Bureau works alongside the FFA to develop the next generation of agriculture leaders. We are always impressed with the students taking part in the competition."

The competition also saw Emily Nelson from Ashby FFA and Keeley Runge from St. James Area FFA advancing to the final four. The Discussion Meet competition involved sixteen regional winners who discussed current agricultural topics, aiming to simulate a committee meeting where they work collaboratively to find solutions.

This year’s discussion meet at the Minnesota State FFA Convention not only showcased emerging leaders in agriculture but also highlighted the continuous effort of the Farm Bureau to foster leadership and problem-solving skills among young agriculturalists.
