By Scout Nelson

On Thursday, November 30, 2023, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Central time, the Lac qui Parle County Annex Multimedia Room in Madison, Minnesota, will be the venue for an informative workshop on farmland rent. This event, organized by Dave Bau, an Extension educator, aims to provide landlords, farmers, and agri-business professionals with vital information on farmland rental rates, a significant input cost for farmers.

Attendees can expect to gain insights into various pertinent topics, including local historical and projected farmland rental rate trends, current farmland values and sales, and strategies for determining fair rental agreements.

The workshop will also delve into input costs, current corn and soybean prices, and what constitutes affordable rent. It will explore the rate of return for landlords at current market values and discuss flexible rental agreements.

This workshop is part of a series of meetings being held across Minnesota and online, catering to the needs of the agricultural community. The workshop is free to attend, and no prior registration is required.

This event presents an excellent opportunity for participants to stay informed about the latest trends and best practices in farmland rental, ensuring equitable and sustainable agreements that benefit all parties involved.

For more information, interested individuals can contact Dave Bau via email at bauxx003@umn.edu or by phone on 507-372-3900 Ext. 3906. This workshop is a key event for those involved in the agricultural sector, providing essential knowledge and networking opportunities.
