The Minnesota Department of Agriculture (MDA) is eager to hear from those influenced and affected by food and agriculture systems. They're extending an invitation to farmers, food businesses, and others for policy and program suggestions that might impact the upcoming 2024 legislative session.
For this, the MDA is creating avenues to ensure everyone gets a voice. Two virtual sessions on Zoom have been planned. These sessions are open to all but need prior registration.
The first session is planned for Monday, August 21, 2023, between Noon and 1 p.m.
The second one is on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, from 5 – 6 p.m.
These platforms aim to offer a direct channel to share views and suggestions.
For those who might be unavailable for the sessions or prefer written communication, the MDA also accept ideas via an online form.
All these efforts are gearing up for the next legislative session, which kicks off on February 12, 2024. During this time, the MDA may propose changes to the state law. It's worth noting that the Governor and Legislature set a budget in 2023, but the 2024 session might bring additions or revisions to it.
