The Minnesota Farm Bureau has announced the finalists for its collegiate discussion meet, slated to take place during the 2024 Leadership, Education, Advocacy and Promotion (LEAP) Conference on February 2-3 in Fargo/Moorhead. Fourteen talented students from various colleges across Minnesota have been selected to compete at this prestigious state-level event.
These finalists have earned their spots by securing one of the top two positions in regional contests conducted across seven different college campuses statewide. The participants in the state contest includes:
- Landon Mertens – Central Lakes College, Staples
- Riley Lefebvre – Central Lakes College, Staples
- Jacob Runge – Ridgewater College, Willmar
- Ralph Roesler – Ridgewater College, Willmar
- Boden Simon – Riverland Community College, Austin
- Brennan Folie – Riverland Community College, Austin
- Jayden German – South Central College, Mankato
- Mason Ward – South Central College, Mankato
- Logan Burns – Southwest Minnesota State University, Marshall
- Silas Schultz – Southwest Minnesota State University, Marshall
- Katelyn Mack – University of Minnesota, Crookston
- Lily Krona – University of Minnesota, Crookston
- Aina Perez – University of Minnesota, Twin Cities
- Kyle Thomas – University of Minnesota, Twin Cities
The winner of this highly anticipated discussion meet will receive a cash prize sponsored by Christensen Farms. The winner's lodging and registration expenses for the national YF&R Collegiate Discussion Meet competition will be covered. This national competition is part of the Young Farmers & Ranchers Leadership Conference, scheduled from March 8-11 in Omaha.
This event represents an excellent opportunity for these students to demonstrate their knowledge and skills in agricultural discussions, as well as to network with peers and industry professionals.
