Minnesota hosts crop pest management course and trade show

Minnesota Crop Production Retailers, in collaboration with the University of Minnesota Extension, announces the three-day Minnesota Crop Pest Management Short Course program and Trade Show. The event, kicking off on Tuesday, December 12th and concluding on Thursday, December 14th, is set to take place at the downtown Minneapolis Hilton Hotel.

The educational program begins on Wednesday, December 13th, covering crucial topics such as fertilizer market trends, high impact meteorology in agriculture, and technical service provider recertification programs. Notable speakers include Josh Linville from StoneX and Eric Snodgrass of Nutrien Ag Solutions Sr.

The first day will also see a trade show opening from 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The following day's general session will explore themes like crop protection, conservation agronomy, and strategies against pests, featuring insights from industry experts like Janet Hou of BASF and Joshua Stamper from the Minnesota Department of Agriculture.

The event continues with concurrent educational sessions on various agronomic topics including weed management, corn pest management, and modernizing fertilizer guidelines. The trade show will be open on December 13 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and on December 14 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Certified crop advisors attending the event can earn up to 11 CCA continuing education credits. Pesticide applicator recertification sessions, approved by MDA, will cover categories A, C, and H, providing updates on pest management and new crop challenges.
